Pickleball in Utkinton

Exciting plans are underway at Utkinton Village Hall to introduce Pickleball to the village.

Thanks to grant funding, we are developing a brand new multi-sports court, with pickleball at the heart of the project. Our goal is not only to improve the facilities at the hall, but also to create a new activity that brings people together and encourages more residents to get involved in village life.

Funding from The National Lottery Community Fund will allow us to completely upgrade the existing outdoor court.

The work will include:

Levelling the current court surface
Installing a 4G-style green sports carpet surface
Marking two dedicated pickleball courts

Additional markings will also allow the space to be used for 5-a-side football, but pickleball will be a key focus of the new facility.

Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the UK. It’s easy to learn, sociable to play, and suitable for all ages and abilities, making it perfect for a village setting.

Grand Opening and Taster Sessions

We are aiming to officially open the new court on 6 June during the Village Hall Garden Party.

To help launch the new facility, Inclusive Rackets will be joining us on the day. Coach Mike Herd will run taster sessions and group coaching, giving everyone the chance to try pickleball in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Whether you’ve never picked up a racket before or already play regularly, this will be a great opportunity to experience the game.

Building a Community Pickleball Club

Alongside the new court, we hope to start a community pickleball club in Utkinton.

Our aim is to create a friendly and inclusive group where people can meet, stay active and enjoy the social side of the sport. Pickleball works well for mixed abilities and age groups, which makes it ideal for our community.
