Remembrance Day 2023

A plan pulled together for commemorating Remembrance Day (Sunday 12th November) at Utkinton Village Hall was approved by a majority at the Parish Council meeting on 10th October, and UCPC will publish the Plan and would welcome your participation.

In shorthand there will be a service in Utkinton Village Hall with attendees gathering at around 10:50, the service taking place until approximately 11:15 followed by refreshments in the hall and at approximately 11:45 (sorry to be vague) the ‘Forest Troop of Horse’ will be riding past and stopping at the War Memorial and offering their own ‘thanks’ for those who passed.

We cannot have an official service at that time but there will be safe vantage points for anyone wishing to view the Troop. More about this later. Our only request is that, if you do wish to place a wreath or cross at the War Memorial and to walk the short distance along John Street please do so with the utmost care as there might be cars and other vehicles passing through.

The safe vantage points will be the pavement adjacent to the War memorial, and behind it and also in the garden of ‘The Old Chapel’ by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Mulvey.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Francis Tunney, Parish Councillor and Chair of UVH
