On the evening of 27 February, we gathered for our Annual General Meeting, reflecting on a transformative year that has seen significant improvements to our beloved village hall. As outlined in our founding 1996 Trust Deed, our core purpose remains steadfast: to provide a vibrant community space that enhances the lives of Utkinton’s residents.
Substantial Improvements in 2024
This year has been nothing short of remarkable, with numerous enhancements that have breathed new life into our village hall:
- A sleek, modern website (a massive thank you to Aleks Bochniak!)
- An innovative online booking system, making hall reservations a breeze (kudos to Neil Slaughter)
- A fully refurbished kitchen, complete with new oven, fridge, and freezer (thanks to Andy Stowell and Sue Richardson)
- Gleaming, newly renovated toilets
- A refreshed car park
- Practical new store room shelving
- Comfortable new chairs
- Enhanced security with a new front door and entry system
Our grounds have not been forgotten, with regular maintenance ensuring our external spaces remain immaculate. Special mentions go to Craig and Andy for grass cutting and landscaping, and Margaret for her beautiful planter upkeep.
Vibrant Community Events
Our hall has been a hub of activity, hosting a range of successful events:
- The Friday Social continues to be a roaring success, attracting 35-50 people fortnightly
- Our Summer Fete drew an impressive 80 attendees
- The Neil Diamond Tribute night was a stellar evening, entertaining over 70 people
Hall Hire and Community Use
We’re thriving with regular weekly fitness classes, including yoga and Pilates. Children’s party bookings are on the rise, and our outside court remains a free resource for young people to enjoy football, basketball, and netball.
Our committee remains committed to our original mission: improving the lives of Utkinton’s inhabitants through this wonderful community space.
