Our village is coming together for an incredibly special project, and we need YOUR help! Utkinton Women’s Institute and the Village Hall are launching an ambitious mission to knit 1,000 red poppies for our community’s Remembrance Day commemoration.
Join our Poppy Knitting Army!
Whether you’re a seasoned knitter or someone who’s never picked up needles before, there’s a place for you in our Utkinton Poppy Knitting Club. We’ve got simple patterns that even beginners can master, and every single poppy counts.
What we need:
- Volunteer knitters of all skill levels
- Your community spirit
This isn’t just about creating a beautiful display – it’s about honouring the incredible sacrifice of those who gave their lives for our freedom. Each poppy represents a story, a life, a memory we will never forget.

How to get involved
Contact Brenda Ramsden 01829 730552 or Margaret Bowers 01829 732349 to join our knitting mission!
We’re creating more than just a decoration – we’re weaving together a Festival of Remembrance that will bring our entire village together. One stitch at a time, we’ll pay tribute to our local heroes.
Together, we can make 1,000 poppies shine bright with remembrance and hope.
