Well, what can we say? The Big Community Festival at Tirley Garth on Saturday 14th June was absolutely smashing, and we’re still buzzing from such a fantastic day out!
The Numbers That Matter
Let’s start with the good news – our little stall was a proper success! When we counted up at the end of the day, we made a lovely £130 for Utkinton Village Hall. Not bad going at all, especially considering we actually ran out of prizes – now that’s what we call a popular stall!
The Stars of the Show
We’ve got to give massive thanks to our brilliant volunteers who made it all happen. Charles and Sandra, Frank!, Sue, John, Graham, Yvonne, Karen, Andy, and Aleks – you were all absolutely wonderful. Honestly, without this fantastic crew, we might not have pulled it off at all. It really does show what we can achieve when we all muck in together!

Pure Joy All Round
The best part of the whole day? Watching the children (and let’s be honest, quite a few grown-ups too!) absolutely loving our games. The smiles on their faces were worth more than any money we raised. And speaking of games, “Hook-a-duck” was definitely the star attraction – it had everyone in stitches and queuing up for another go!
Looking Ahead
This brilliant day has given us some cracking ideas for our own summer fete here at Utkinton Village Hall. There’s nothing quite like seeing what works and what gets people excited to help you plan your next event, is there?

A Proper Community Effort
What made the whole festival so special was seeing all our local groups working together – the Women’s Institute, both village halls, St John and the Holy Cross Church, and the Parish Council Jubilee Working Party. When we all pull together like this, there’s no stopping us!
The live music was fantastic too, with The Lost Boys, Ginger and the Ninjas, The Light Wardens, and The VB3s keeping everyone entertained throughout the afternoon. And all set against the gorgeous backdrop of Tirley Garth – what more could you ask for?
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!
Once again, massive thanks to everyone who helped make our stall such a success, and to everyone who came along and supported us on the day. Days like these remind us just how lucky we are to be part of such a wonderful community.
Here’s to the next one!
